Lately I’ve been reading about smoking bans and how they effect the revenue of businesses and servers. Here in Florida we’ve had a smoking ban for years. I had the same concerns as Raging Server. It soon became apparent that this simply wasn’t the case. Yes, people who like to enjoy a cigarette and a cocktail before a meal, or a coffee and a smoke after a meal, were unhappy about being treated as second class citizens. However, every smoker I spoke with were understanding of the reasons these bans were enacted. Yes, it is inconvenient, but smokers like anyone still enjoy going out to eat.

In Florida however, the law is not across the board. If an establishment serves a higher percentage of alcohol, or no food at all, these bans do not apply. I happen to believe this to be satisfactory. I know when I consume alcohol I want to smoke. I even know people that only smoke when they are drinking. Again we all know smoking is bad for us and the people around us.

Now it’s time for our country to excommunicate those who fart in public, or wear perfume that reeks of monkey urine.
